Ah, another Christmas come and

Ah, another Christmas come and gone. It was great going to Aunt Carol's and seeing everyone (and all the dogs). It's this time of year that makes me really wish that I was little again. I miss all the excitement and fun, back when the Gang was together a lot more that we are now. I just hope that everyone can make it to Kathy's wedding.

But anyway, I'm a little ticked that I didn't get Gladiator, The Patriot, or any Jane Austen movies except Emma. I'm going in search of the two-volume Pride & Prejudice (six hours on two tapes! Colin Firth for all!) and then I'll be supremely content.

And happiness: NBC is replaying the season opener of The West Wing. Yay! And if you want to check out a cool website with recaps of a bunch of series, go to www.mightybigtv.com. It rocks.

I am so happy that

I am so happy that it’s almost the weekend…and so happy that I get next week off. Today was the December PDT meeting, which reminded me a little too much of APO meetings. Except this meeting has actual consequences…it’s a little scary, knowing that we’re talking about thousands and thousands of dollars. And, much like APO meetings, I think we all wanted to get out of there a bit.

And may I just share that I am far too addicted to The West Wing for my own good. It’s such a great show! I only wish I had all the episodes on tape. Then I could watch them all. Add some of those oatmeal scotchie cookies and I’m all good. I never realized what a great combination oatmeal and butterscotch truly is.

Two notes: 1) Sleeping on

Two notes:

1) Sleeping on hardwood floors is bad, particularly when it's thundering outside and when you finally do fall asleep, you're woken up by someone saying that "You're not breathing." If you're not breathing, you'd be dead, which you're not, so why can't you just sleep? Oh well.

2) Holiday parties are fun, particularly when they involve a lot of your friends whom you don't get to see anywhere near as much as you'd like.

Premise of a game: Everyone

Premise of a game: Everyone brings in something they have at home, something they don't want, something they don't like. They everyone exchanges gifts. A fun game, except everyone winds up with a piece of crap. Unless, of course, your name is Carla, in which case you wind up with an awesome toy gun. I'm jealous. And I would totally hate her for it, except she also brought in butterscotch-oatmeal cookies. So I forgive her just about everything. And even though the game itself is a little odd (and I wound up with a perfectly hideous elephant), it was probably the funnest hour of work I've had. Not counting lunch--particularly the lunch where I opened my checking and savings account, helped by cute Mike. But anyway. Holiday parties are good.

Right, so I didn't think

Right, so I didn't think that I cared that much about the election, but the thought of George W. Bush as president is just completely repulsive. One of Dave's professors referred to Dubya as "the idiot son of a failed president." I concur. And enough of that topic.

And let me just add that I'm very happy with my new television obsession: The West Wing. What a great show! I just need to go through more of the episode guide and get a grip on the characters and such. Thank God for the Internet, right?

A Diva's Christmas Carol is currently my background noise. I can't help but think of last year watching the TNT (?) version of A Christmas Carol, the one with Patrick Stewart as Scrooge. The kid who played Tiny Tim really needed to be put out of his misery. His version of "Silent Night" was simply...I can't even think of the word for it. The only good thing about that movie was mocking it. I wonder what Dickens think of what an icon his tale has become...

You know it's odd...I started

You know it's odd...I started the only journal I ever kept for any period of time in December. Maybe it's a sign. Or maybe not. Who knows.

So today I went Christmas shopping at Tysons Corner Center, which is just an awesome mall. And I totally wanted to share it with someone...bring friends there to enjoy. Shopping is a lot less fun when you're by yourself. That's true of a lot of things, though. I often find myself thinking that I want to bring my friends somewhere in the area. If only they were closer...

And, as it's Tuesday, let me just say that Buffy this season has just been awesome. They're finally doing something with Giles and Xander! They just need to get Xander and Willow back together...I don't care that Willow is with Tara now, Xander and Willow belong together .
