This is one of those nice weekends when I'm doing stuff, but not anything major. I slept in, I lounged around, I went to the grocery store. I got my entertainment center! It makes me excessively happy. It's so pretty. And many many thanks and a huge debt of gratitude to Steve, for helping my carry it and assemble it (I'll let you know about helping you move the couch...). There's something about it that makes me feel very grown up. I don't know why. I can't explain it. I love weekends like this. No major plans, just little ones and a whole bunch of relaxation. It's a good thing.
A note on Bridget Jones's Diary: To truly appreciate Colin Firth's expressions, you really have to watch Pride and Prejudice. He's very subtle that way. I read this article about the movie in Entertainment Weekly. I'll relate a bit of an interview with Colin, where he's describing why he found the role of Mark Darcy harder to play than that of Fitzwilliam Darcy: "In 1810 you expect to find a guy like that scowling in the corner. In 2001 he's really a prick. Plus he's got much worse dress sense--and a devilish rival [Hugh Grant's character, Daniel Cleaver, the Wickham character] with far too much screen time, in my opinion." Colin Firth just sounds like such a funny guy. I read that he was actually the one who wrote the "There once was a woman from Ealing" limerick that Daniel recites to Bridget. Neat, huh?
I also want to say how nice it was having lunch with Suzanne and Wimberly on Friday. It's nice to know there are people out there, people I don't know from college, who are experiencing similar problems as I am. Hopefully we'll do more things together in the future. Suzanne and I were planning on going to the movies next Saturday; perhaps we'll see if Wimberly wants to join us. Though it would be weird socializing with a girl younger than me who's married and has a three year old daughter! Ah well.
