Sunday was a great day. I woke up and the power was on—it had come on around 4:30 that morning. Yay! The cable was still out (it just came back last night), but I could use my computer and turn on lights and stop worrying about the food in the refrigerator. I saw in the paper that Dave Barry is going to be doing a book reading in Arlington on Wednesday, and I got out of tutoring that night so I could go to it. Then I won tickets to see Cats from a radio station. I wanted to see it, but wouldn’t, you know, spend the money, so this works out perfectly. Plus, it was a “#1 Hits” weekend on said station (which is an oldies station), so they played lots of Beatles music. And to top it all off, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Amazing Race both won (much-deserved) Emmys! Yay! So I was quite happy.
Now I’m just sort of plodding along. I’m at that “I might be sick” stage where I don’t feel quite right, but it’s nothing major enough to warrant not coming into work. I’m looking forward to seeing Dave Barry tomorrow night, Carrie’s birthday on Thursday (plans for that TBD), and my compressed day on Friday.
Current song in my head:
“I’ll Cry Instead” by the Beatles
