I’m currently proofreading a book

I’m currently proofreading a book on pediatrics, and the article I just finished was about how to effectively interview children. The authors made some interesting points about how adults tend to see themselves as superior to children, and how adults frequently think that children don’t understand a lot of things (which the children actually do). It made me pause and contemplate how I tutor. I tend to veer between two extremes—I’ll either assume the child knows a lot, or I’ll repeatedly ask them if they understand certain words, etc. I guess maybe I should watch that.

In other news, a Krispy Kreme just opened in Rockville. Uh oh.
