Happy 2005 everyone! In thinking about it, there's not much to recap of my Christmas vacation. Everything in Oregon was very quiet. What was cool was that when my grandmother moved, she gave my parents a bunch of my grandfather's stuff, so I went through a photo album he made during World War II--London, Italy, North Africa. And it included the little guides for soldiers, with advice like, "Don't steal the British soldiers' women" and "The British are used to the metric system; don't try to convince them it's stupid." The album also had a number of telegrams between my grandparents, which were sweet.
It was an ideal vacation, in that I got to spend a lot of time with my family, but also had some down time here at home. When I went out to Oregon for Christmas in 2001, my flight got in fairly late, then I left the next day to celebrate the new year in New Jersey. Fun, yes. But a bit hectic.
The dawn of 2005 found me in Rehoboth at Tim's very nice house. And it was so gorgeous that we spent New Year's Day playing wiffleball on the beach. (I suck, by the way; maybe I'll check out some batting cages.)
And now...back to work. I'm at that point where I don't feel like going back, but at the same time know that I would get very restless very quickly. Ah well. All too soon I'll be back to the routine of everyday life. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
