Shoveling out the ballpark

I know how much everyone misses getting updates about baseball (stupid offseason). Anyway, the O's website is profiling each of the starters, and here's the article on "middle infielders." It's theoretically about Brian and Miggy, but it's mostly about Brian. Because other than, "He rocks and we love him" can you say about Miggy? Come to think of it, you could really just put that for Brian, too.

It's too bad they play for a team whose management/ownership is so bad that they didnt even bother to persue any off-season talent, especially in stating pitchers. Hell, even Tampa Bay got better in the off season! Peter Angelos seems to be throwing the team under the bus and is too busy feeling bad for his revenues (per the Nationals deal) to even care about the O's. You cant do that in the AL East and get above .500. You heard it here first 2005 AL East: Sox-Yanks-Rays-O's-Jays.

Brent missed something... Angelos is not lamenting the presence of the Nationals, he's LOVEING every minute of it. Angelos is intentionally tanking the team. He doesn't want to be anywhere near .500, b/c then he won't get his sweetheard deal from MLB. It's much less expensive to lose than to win, and if you're guaranteed by MLB that you make your $300 million profit when you sell the team, then why dump the extra $30+ million to make the team competative? Field a $40 million team, take your hits in an empty ballpark, and have MLB pay you the missing money. It's very simple economics, it has nothing to do with baseball. Oh, and Brent is absolutely right, we will almost certainly return to our rightful place at 4th in the AL East this season, but he's definitely not the first person to say it *wink*.

... and I think i misspelled "loving."

I think we can stay in 3rd; the offense is still there. I'm not holding my breath on it, though. And Dad, I totally agree about Angelos. Of course, it would help his argument if the O's hadn't sucked for a number of years before the Nats coming to DC. Argh!

And Brent, I'm gonna disagree with your order of the first two teams, there. ;)

Ack, Dad??? I meant Dave, obviously. Though, my father also agrees with this.

Well, Barb (or Dad, if you prefer), you can disagree with my ordering all you want. I guess you still have to root for a team that has some hope. And, I think the O's will be in fourth b/c I think the D-rays will crack .500 at the end and the O's won't . . . again; have all the offense you want but no pitching=few wins.
