I'll just go hide in a cave now, thanks

There's nothing like watching the Discovery Channel to make you want to hide under your bed. Contrary to what I had believed, the people of Pompeii didn't die instantly. And the Discovery Channel was more than happy to provide me with a vivid description involving liquifying tissue and brains exploding. On the positive side, I think I should try to use this information to get my parents to move away from Oregon, which is dangerously close to Mount St. Helens. "The volcano erupt and your BRAINS WILL EXPLODE!!!" I somehow doubt that would work on my parents, though.

However, in case those of us on the East Coast were feeling too safe (seeing how we don't live near any active volcanos), there was a lovely show about mega-tsunamis that highlighted how half an island in the Atlantic will break off, causing a tsunami to hit the East Coast of the US. This will allegedly happen within decades.

I've decided that stocking up on plastic sheets and duct tape is a good idea. I'm not worried about terrorism; I'm concerned about nature. Hold me!

Current song in my head:
"Whatever Gets You Through the Night" by John Lennon
