A sad day in Barbland

Even though my life has been somewhat eventful of late, what with the camping and the journeying to Connecticut, I have to make a quick note about baseball. For some reason, the Orioles traded my Reserve Oriole Boyfriend Larry Bigbie to the Colorado Rockies. They gained a player with essentially the same stats, only he bats righty. Argh! I feel bad for Larry. He came up with the O's and it has to be a shock. I hope he does well out in Colorado and maybe I'll see him when the Rockies play the Nats. I'll miss him. I guess that makes him my Official Colorado Rockies Boyfriend.

What's your take on the whole Raffy doping scandal? Do you think he's being truthful?

Ah, the Raffy situation. I really want to believe him, that he didn't take anything on purpose. And honestly, how dumb do you have to be to do that? But I find the fact that he's not giving us specifics to be pretty shady.

The whole thing is pretty depressing. His story was the lone bright spot in the O's suckitude of late, and to see that get tarnished hurts a lot. I definitely feel that they should take down the "Congrats Raffy" banner and not hold the ceremonies for him for #3000.

At the same time, I do think he should still get into the Hall. If you eliminate him, you pretty much have to eliminate most of the players from the last decade or so. I still feel that he's had a HOF career. But...it hurts that this happened. I feel a bit betrayed, as a fan. "Say it ain't so, Palmeiro" is my basic attitude.
