Even a wee bit helps

I thought I'd throw in a plug for donating to the Salvation Army, since this morning they had a rep doing an interview on the radio, and she had the loveliest Scottish accent. According to her, $100 will feed a family for two days, buy two cases of water, and provide a home cleanup kit (including broom, mop, etc.). Go here to help.

Generally, I suspend some political judgements in times of crisis. But the faith-based, Bush-backed Salvation Army? Their homophobic and sexist agenda makes me want to vomit.

There are alternatives . . . Red Cross, AmeriCares, America's Second Harvest. Please, don't help those oppressed by the resultant conditions of the hurricane by sponsoring a group that is itself oppressive.
