I heard on the radio the other day that the average single person goes on eight first (blind?) dates a year. I'm wondering who the people are out there that make up for me totally bringing down the curve on this one. I mean, eight? Really? Dang. I know that's less than one a month, but still.
In practical news, here's a chat about how to defeat the imminent robot rebellion. I love the Washington Post for many reasons, but the diversity of their online chats is right at the top of my list.
And I just realized that the name of the male non-MC lead character (played by Michael York in the movie) in Cabaret is Brian Roberts. I am excessively amused by this. Well, it is a somewhat generic American name. I shouldn't be surprised at it popping up the way it does.
Current song in my head:
"Don't Tell Mama" from Cabaret
barb, hi! longtime reader. love, love, love your stuff but sometimes i think you say "excessively" when you mean "exceedingly"?!?! excessive use of "excessively" is exceedingly excremental!!! or not but seems weird anyhow.
on a side note, the people finding dates are actively searching online (and IN LINE at the safeway, c'mon all us boys don't bite you know.)time to post on craigslist, you! (expecting a post on this subject, don't let our "odd"ience down!) LOL
Posted by: Finian at November 21, 2005 01:27 PMOh c'mon, Finian. I'd venture to say Barb is using a literary device--like saying "It's too, too much" even if that something isn't LITERALLY too much. You know?
Plus, boys DO bite, unfortunately! And you know what they say: Once bitten, twice shy. I practically had to go to the emergency room after my last date bit me on the neck while saying good night. I mean, really--a peck on the cheek is perfectly acceptable!
Posted by: Ducky at November 21, 2005 01:44 PMtrue true. but what's that other saying? better to have loved and lost than never at all? i mean, every once in a while, you gotta stick your neck out, even if it comes back a little bruised.
it's scary, but for the most part, worth it.
and who knows, you just might end up having some fun! ;)
ok WOW, just saying what i think sorry if it offends you. i thought this was BARBRA'S BLOG, not yours.
anyway i'm just saying it doesn't hurt to try initiative, i've been with Shondra for three years and we met at safeways, but not if i hadn't coughed that her slip was showing first which led to phone numbers and then love (even in the face of objections, but that's for my own blog if i had one LOL).
initiative, barb! (and ducky too, obviously you need to go on more dates and stop OBSESSING WITH MY COMMENTS. this is public and plus the First Amendment, you!)
Posted by: finian at November 21, 2005 01:53 PMuh-oh, bruised male ego alert! LOL
can't we all just get along? :)
OK yeah that's it, cos i'm a guy. LMAO, that's rich when i'm a FEMINIST, ask shondra who did the laundry last week (and not for the first time!!!)
maybe you need to stop hiding behind "condi rice" when nobody would believe that childish stunt, like the Secretary for States reads this even on spare time! you're probably WHITE anyway, but i have a black half-child who i treat like my EQUAL SON, if you want to inject race into this!
anyways barb, these girl is jealous because they don't have a hit blog online. tell me, am i right?
back to your needs, i would say love is out there. who knows maybe in tap class?
Posted by: finian at November 21, 2005 02:05 PM... I'm confused.
Posted by: Dave at November 21, 2005 03:59 PMYou and me both, Dave.
Posted by: Barb at November 21, 2005 04:03 PMthat's okay--just for the love of g_d, don't obsess over anyone's comments! or share the same name as the secretary of state ;)
just another crazy day in blogland!
Color me confused, too. :) Still, Finian's attacks are like water off a duck's back. ;)
Posted by: ducky at November 21, 2005 04:20 PMforget you anyways, what matters is the blog not stupid comments. all i care is barb's life, not your hateful words.
i'm sure i don't have to tell dave it's that time of the month in this henhouse!! (not you barb, the others)
Posted by: finian at November 21, 2005 04:28 PMDon't make me start posting about baseball again, people. Because I'll do it.
