It’s sad how happy I got when I saw this report:
BALTIMORE — Miguel Tejada backpedaled on Sunday, telling Comcast SportsNet that he didn’t ask for a trade but simply wanted to see the Orioles make more of an effort to improve.
“I never said I wanted to be traded,” Tejada said in a talk with CSN reporter Kelli Johnson. “I said I want to see a better team. I don’t want to keep losing like we have the past two years.”
Tejada asking to leave Baltimore has been the talk of the town since he told an Associated Press reporter Thursday that the best thing for him could be a “change of scenery.”
Now I have to go to the CSN website and see if the video is there.
…
It’s not, but the story there did include this:
Tejada also told Kelli Johnson that he has recently spoke with Baltimore second baseman Brian Roberts about how the rehab is going on his injured elbow. Tejada said that Roberts told him he is doing well and should be ready to go by opening day.
Awww! I mean, yay, good news, but that’s cute that they talked recently. Baseball boys are SO cute.

The most amazing thing just happened. I was sitting at my computer, and Colin came over and sat on my lap. That never happens. Ever. In the over two years that I’ve had him, it’s happened…once. Maybe. I’m not sure whether it was to encourage me to feed him, or because I’m a warm body, but…yay! Totally made my day. Maybe he’ll turn into a lap cat yet.

One of the great things about the Christmas season is the many little things that make me happy. (There are a number of things about this time of year that can be depressing, too, but I’m trying to focus on the happy, people.) For example, I love driving around and seeing people with Christmas trees tied to the roof of the car. It always brings a smile to my face.

The other day I went out to mail something and get stamps, and I got the Muppet stamps. They are fabulous.

But the best part of them is the back, where each stamp has a corresponding message from the Muppet it pictures. Fantastic!

I was already in a bit of a cranky mood last night, then I saw this: Tejada says he wants to be traded. Seriously, just shoot me. Miggy, don’t leave us!

This day, 25 years ago, I was 2. I obviously had no idea who John Lennon was, much less mourn him. Now, however…
Four years ago today, some friends and I went up to New York City for the day. George Harrison had just died. I dragged my friends up to Central Park, to Strawberry Fields. The area around the “Imagine” mosaic was packed with people. The mosaic was covered with flowers. There was a guy with a guitar and everyone was singing Beatles songs, John Lennon songs, George Harrison songs. A song would end and either the guy would start playing right away, or someone would call out a song. I stood on a bench and joined in. It was a great moment, singing with everyone.
It’s interesting to reflect on where John would be today if he hadn’t been senselessly killed at the age of 40. Would he be a politician? Would he and Bono be friends? How would he view the world today?
When I went to Liverpool last year, I went to the Beatles Experience. Probably the coolest part of it was the replica of the white room from the “Imagine” video, with that song playing. It was incredibly touching.
Anyway, I’m off to watch A Hard Day’s Night. Here’s to you, George. Here’s to you, John.

Even though he was cruelly snatched from me this year, I still follow with interest the career of Former Reserve Oriole Boyfriend Larry Bigbie. Turns out he was just traded from the Colorado Rockies to the St. Louis Cardinals. I’m really happy for him. He’ll finally be on a winning team. I hope that he plays up to his potential. And I may have to go see him when the Cards are in town to play the Nats.
Meanwhile, I am waiting for the O’s to make any meaningful moves, though I was happy to see Steve Kline get traded. I imagine he’ll do pretty well next year; his pitching was improving by the end of the season. But still, his attitude isn’t welcome. He probably was more than happy to get out of Baltimore.

I’m not proud of it, but I’ve been faithfully watching Reunion. It’s a bad, bad show. Absurd plotlines, odd writing, poor acting. But I’m hooked. I love telling Carrie what happened just to see the expressions on her face (”The the guy who’s now paralyzed tells the cop that it wasn’t his best friend who killed the cop’s father in the car accident 20 years ago, it was him!”). So I was sad when they announced it would be cancelled. The entire premise of the show was that one of a group of the main six characters was killed in the present day; the story is told in flashback. I’m even more upset having read this:
UNSOLVED MYSTERY: Reunion fans looking for some semblance of closure from Fox’s recently axed drama might want to look elsewhere. Despite a week of brainstorming, show execs have concluded it simply is not possible to wrap up the central murder mystery nine “years” sooner than planned. Executive producer Jon Feldman explains in a statement, “Because the events of Samantha’s murder are partially reliant on characters we haven’t yet met — and events we haven’t yet seen — there is no way to solve the mystery of her murder without being able to complete the full arc of our story through the present day. I greatly regret that this question along with many others that the series has posed will remain unsolved, and I am deeply grateful for the support of viewers who share this regret.” Reunion’s 13th and now final episode airs Feb. 2.
Couldn’t they release a summary or something? Please?
