Mmm, rest

It’s been a pretty crazy week, and this weekend has been a really good remedy. I didn’t spend much of last weekend at home, and what I did spend at home was spent proofreading. I went to two O’s games, both of which were fun (even if one was a loss that was only attended by 5 other people), but still…not at home. On Wednesday I found a new apartment, which I am very excited about. It’s in Takoma Park and is decently priced for a nice one bedroom. Of course, now I just want to be there already–skip all the intermediate steps. Even if it means sitting in the apartment surrounded by boxes, that’s fine. I just want to get there. But a month from now, I should at least have the keys.
I also finally got my driver side mirror fixed. It’s been broken since February, and I had basically gotten used to it. But wow! Having a nonbroken mirror is awesome! I’m going to go out on a limb and say they should put those on all cars, because it’s really, really handy.
Anyway, so I had a nice weekend. Spending time with friends, napping Saturday afternoon guilt-free (thanks, rain!), giving a First Ladies tour to a group that seemed interested (and one lady who refused to believe that the dresses hadn’t been altered). Very relaxing, very restful. Beauty.
Current song in my head:
My tap routine. Not the song, but the routine. My mind is going, “Shuffle ball, ball chain; shuffle ball, ball chain; shuffle ball, ball chain; shuffle ball, ball chain”

I didn’t realize I liked Crisp so much

Ah yes, my life has meaning again. And I don’t just mean because the baseball season started. It’s also fantasy baseball time! Now I have something to do at work! Huzzah! I actually have two teams this year and, unlike last year, both are rotisserie, so that’ll be new. And I’m already in second to last place with Team 1. Woo.
Curious about who I have? Read on…

Taken out…again

My excitement for Opening Day must have seeped into my brain last night, because I had a dream last night that involved none other than Mr. Brian Roberts. He was really nice. Except that he was talking to me about some girl he was dating. Even in my dreams, guys only think of me as a friend. Well, it was still a nice dream. At least we seemed to be fairly close friends. So that’s something. In, you know, dream world.
(And, and Dave, you were in there, too. I think Brian and I were at your office and I was telling him how you and a large group managed to pull some strings and get a table at a restaurant. He was impressed. And I introduced you guys. My dreams are just nonstop excitement.)
The game today was awesome. It was just so nice being back at Camden Yards. In a lot of ways, it didn’t feel like it’s been over 6 months since I was last there. It was very comfortable. Plus, the rain managed to hold off, miraculously. It’s now pouring, but hey, the game was dry! And my boy made a fabulous comeback. Seriously, there is nothing not to love about him.
I’d be more gushy about this–I certainly was when I got home from the game (and day games are great; I’m loving being able to do stuff after getting home)–but I’m really tired after staying up late last night working. So right now I’m just trying to hold on until the 10 edition of SportsNite.

Typical author screwup

So I’m proofing this document and come to a section on plagiarism. It has a definition of the word, taken directly from a dictionary. And the citation? Incomplete. Dude, you just don’t want to mess up the citation for “plagiarize.” Ever.

And the event itself went well, too

I agreed to participate in an event for Gettysburg’s Career Planning & Advising this afternoon. I figured it would be silly to go home after tutoring to then double-back in an hour, so I drove up, grabbed a quick lunch, then settled in at Musselman Library to work on some proofreading. Man, it made me miss college. I was totally productive (it’s amazing how productive I am when there’s no television or computer to distract me) and it was just really nice being in that environment again. Typical–just when I reached the point where I didn’t have to be physically dragged from campus when it comes time to leave.
I also had a really nice dinner with Mary. I don’t see her very often, but she’s one of those people that when I do see her, it’s still easy.
Current song in my head:
“‘The Ballad of Booth” from Assassins
