Now that we've hit the All-Star Break, I thought I'd give an update on how my fantasy teams are doing. But first, these messages.
I am seriously in love with that commercial. I'm such a sap when it comes to baseball.
Anyway, on to the fantasy teams...
For my initial post about my teams, see the April 9 entry.
Team 1
I'm in 4th place out of 6. I have 33 points (and have been stuck there for quite some time); the leader has 46.5, the team in last place has 15. I'm currently 8 points behind the team in front of me. I've made 12 roster moves, one of which involved dropping Coco Crisp. This league is based on 10 categories (R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP).
From the original team, I still have R. Hernandez, Konerko, B. Roberts, Eckstein, J. Jones, Francoeur, Ibanez, P. Martinez, F. Hernandez, Buehrle, J. Schmidt, Schilling, Rivera, and Cordero (my pitching staff has remained the same). My best pickup is Jim Thome, who I picked up May 1. My only trade was Ryan Howard for Derek Jeter; in retrospect, I should've given someone else up for Jeter, because the seller just wanted to get rid of him (foolishly giving into her anti-Yankees bias). The roster size is 26 (?) (I have 27, because Pedro is on the DL); I have 14 of my Opening Day Roster.
I lead the league in wins and strikeouts and am near the top in average. I'm strictly middle of the road otherwise; I'm second from last in 4 categories. My team ERA is 3.81.
Team 2
I'm in 7th place out of 9. I have 67 points (was 71, but I had a crappy Sunday); the leader has 95, the last place team has 41. I'm 7.5 behind the team in front of me. I've made 10 roster moves, but have kept Coco Crisp. This league has 15 categories to judge on (R, H, HR, RBI, SB, K, FPCT, AVG, OPS, W, SV, BB, ERA, WHIP, K/9).
From the original team, I still have R. Hernandez, Thome, B. Roberts, Er. Chavez, O. Cabrera, Crisp, Giles, Pierzynski, P. Martinez, Zito, F. Hernandez, Bedard (my patience is starting to pay off!), Dempster, Street, Guardado, and Rivera. I picked up Mussina on April 24 and haven't looked back. The roster size is 20 (again, Pedro on the DL); I have 16 from my Opening Day roster.
My offense is fairly weak, other than stolen bases and a low strikeout rate. I'm last in home runs (91), and second from last in runs, hits, RBIs, and average. My fielding percentage is decent. I'm near the top in wins (39), saves (52), WHIP, K/9 (7.85), and ERA (3.72), though.
So...if anyone has any suggestions, feel free to speak up. Any offensive sleepers out there that might be available?
