Boys can be desperate, too!

This weekend, it came up in conversation that boys in high school were just moving hormones. (The guy who was talking about this at least believes that most guys mature, which I find encouraging.) Gene Weingarten (a WaPo columnist) has stated numerous times that women should never have any problems getting a guy--at least one to score with.

This whole thing boggles my mind. I hear stuff like this and it just makes me wonder how I remain hopelessly single. But then...I guess the guys who'd be so easy to get aren't the ones I'd want to be with in the first place. But still...

Current song in my head:
"One More Angel in Heaven" from Joseph...

"I guess the guys who'd be so easy to get aren't the ones I'd want to be with in the first place."

That's exactly right. And you deserve a good guy.

Yeah, because god knows a guy who's "easy to get" has got to be trash, right? No way could he possibly be a "good guy." No, you're not going to settle. Wait until Colin Firth is single again.

barb, speaking as a guy that also never got over the slings and arrows of middle school, let me just say this:

weingarten, friends, random social anthropologists are never going to tell you what you won't go find out for yourself.

place a personals ad, for chrissakes.

Great! For months we can read Barbara's "Burblings" without interrupted by CRUELTY, why don't you go home to hell. ("Cloven Foot" is for sure!!!)

Barb, this is presuming to ask, but: have you thought of loooking for men in the bars? I see you don't go to ones, but they are many boys there who are decent and want your love!! (sure they are drinking but, this is allowed!)

Barbra I'm true that I speak, for everybody, when I say, you deserve love and touches from nice boys who don't go inside drugs or bad sluts (or speeding cars, which is an even worst killer than that!). you are desreve love, and you are going to FIND IT. BLESS!!!

Oh, lord, the crazies are out.

Posted by: Brent at July 20, 2006 11:05 AM

You're refering to me aren't you, Brent?

P.S. - Don't go inside drugs.

Posted by: Steve at July 20, 2006 12:45 PM

oh-ho-ho! and by crazies i assume you mean the folks who actually make this blog fun?

Posted by: a fan of comments at July 20, 2006 05:05 PM

ok seriously, what's going on? i read this site all the time and no one ever comments! i think it's great though, means word is getting out there.

for the record, i think it would be nice if we didn't call each other names. we're all here to support barb, not jump down each others' throats. (steve, i think it's obvious that finian's english is a bit, well, lacking -- no need to make fun of him. that's just plain rude.)

Posted by: TAP LVR at July 20, 2006 05:10 PM

Yeah, I concur! And before making fun of Finian's admittedly nontraditional syntax, maybe look up "referring" in the dictionary, Steve!

Posted by: Editrix at July 20, 2006 05:16 PM

I'm sorry, that was kind of harsh, Steve. Let's make up? I guess I just feel bad for uneducated folks like Finian sometimes!

Posted by: Editrix at July 20, 2006 05:21 PM

Looks like some asshole didn't eat his pudding pops today. I guess the crazies ARE out, Brent & Steve -- which is more than can be said for you two lovebirds.

call me crazy ;)
but i love a good debate!
here's my partisan stance (a la neneh cherry):

1. Boys are only good for free drinks at Bennigan's. (Sorry guys, I'm strictly clitly!)
2. I read blogs for the comments (and the occasional grammar tips!!)
3. You can call me names, but only after the second date (SNORT!)

I am cold and there are wovles!

Posted by: Brent at July 20, 2006 06:09 PM

Your site is weird, Barb. Every once in a while, crazy people show up. I need some crazy people over at "Well..." Anyway, good things will happen when you least expect it, but sometimes fate needs a little push... not that I'm an expert or anything. In fact, every relationship I've been in has failed at least once, usually many times more than once.

Posted by: Spike at July 21, 2006 03:15 AM

Oh, and don't go inside drugs.

Posted by: Spike at July 21, 2006 03:17 AM

It is possible that TortillaFlats has won my undying love by referring to Steve and Brent as lovebirds.

Posted by: Barb at July 21, 2006 08:24 AM

I think that TortillaFlats is inside drugs

Posted by: Brent at July 21, 2006 08:44 AM

Not to mention inside sluts, right? Sorry, gang--BAD mental picture! (I actually met Tortilla Flats once. He was naked but for a strategically placed sombrero! NOT someone you want to run into in a dark alley in Tijuana! Unless you're a slut of course, lol! Which I used to be. Huh. Now I've kind of got myself depressed.)

Wow... I don't pay attention for a few days and I miss all of this! I'm with tnerB... I'm cold, and there are definitely wolves. And Barb, please stay outside of the drugs and sluts.
