It seems that a lot of the time, time isn't moving correctly. You want it to be moving more quickly (e.g., when you're at work) or more slowly (e.g., during the weekend). And so it seems strange to me that lately, I feel like time has been moving exactly right. Sure, sometimes work drags, but usually not too badly. The evenings after work seem nice and long, and I usually hit Friday surprised at how quickly the week has gone. And by Sunday evening, I look back and feel like it's been ages since I was at work.
What I'm trying to say is, it's nice. I feel like there's a nice work-life balance going on with me. Although I'm having a hard time believing that today was the last day of the regular baseball season.
Posted by Barb at October 1, 2006 08:24 PM | TrackBackRight... No Orioles for another five months or so. But at least then next year we'll have our tenth consecutive losing season and solidify our status as a "laughing stock." Really, if it weren't for the D-rays being in the East, don't you think we'd be in the same class as the Royals as perennial losers? I've resigned myself to the fact that we're still 5-6 players and $40 million away from competing (stud 1b, stud lf, Ace, and any kind of serviceable bullpen)... and that's never going to happen under Angelos. Just isn't. There's even an article in the Sun today talking about how Kevin Millar was a "pleasant surprise." Am I the only damned person who understands that half of his home runs and 50 points on his batting average have come in the last month when NOTHING MATTERED??? And, now he's lobbying to come back, and the organization is talking about what a great player he's been b/c he hit .270 with 15 hrs. Unbelievable. UNFREAKINBELIEVABLE. This will be a fantastic excuse not to get a real first baseman or not to give Gibby a legit shot at winning the job. Poor Gibby... just a career of getting screwed by the O's. And hurt, but that's another story altogether.
Well... the Twins won the Central. That makes me happy, at least. I've adopted them as my new favorite team, i think. Although I'm conflicted b/c i really like the A's too, and now they're going to play one another in the ALDS. That's my story. It should be interesting to see the Yankees beat Detroit in three straight by a combined score of 241-2, though. Talk soon!!!
Posted by: Dave at October 2, 2006 10:50 AMI'll have a full O's wrap-up in the near future (perhaps tonight). The thing with Millar is that he, like Newhan, is good when he gets consistent at-bats...which he didn't get until September. So while part of me is like, "He'd be good to have on the bench!" I know that that wouldn't work, really. It would be nice to see Gibby be given a shot at 1B full-time.
For the postseason, obviously I'm a Yanks fan. I do like the Twins as well, though. I was happy to see the Astros not make it. I wouldn't be surprised at another Subway Series.
